The bonfire pile. We will burn this tomorrow.
Another new toy.
So Matt had just had is chain saw sharpened, and called me wanting to use it. This tree was dead, and with a 36"dbh, we thought it would be a fun one to drop "for fire wood". We strapped some webbing to a limb about 10 feet off the gound. Notched a wedge half way through the trunk. Then we cut the back and middle out a little so that it was balanced on a 6 inch area, waiting to fall. We pulled the webbing. It rocked backward, then forward. Then, the whole thing fell the wrong way. It missed the house by about 3 feet. 6 feet to the left and it would have crushed the house.
Big Tree Matt and I cut down.
Five feet of soil. The neighbors are jealous.
The Utility guy came out and tried to climb the old pole and hook up the temp pole. But the it started leaning when he was about 15 feet up. He retreated and now I get a new one.
New Telephone pole for the electricity.
